People ask us all the time if their new or future Bengal kitten or kittens will get along with children, other kittens, spouses and dogs. So far at least in our experience I can happily report that every kitten we have ever raised got along with everyone in the family and especially the children. The key in my opinion is carefully introducing the new kitten to the family in a very controlled and loving way and not trying to rush it. First impressions are very important so letting the kitten settle in for a week or more before exposing them to extra stress works best. Then after the kitten has adjusted to its new home environment and has a SAFE place you can slowly allow them to explore and meet the other members of the family. We try hard to expose our kittens to all of the daily activities in an average home to insure that they are comfortable when they get to their new forever homes. Additionally we partially bottle feed each and every one of our kittens to insure that they are very bonded to humans and have a good sense of trust for humans. We NEVER cage our kittens and feed them the best quality fresh, canned and kibble that we can find. The key of course is to find the right Bengal breeder, one that never cages the kittens, properly socializes them and can be counted on after you have your new kitten to answer questions and help is issues do arise. Never deal with breeders that will not talk to you on the phone, If they won't do it before you buy the kitten, you can be sure they won't afterwards. Look for breeders that will send fresh pictures and video of the kittens. If they will not you need to consider why. Are the kittens in cages? Away from the house in some shed or barn? Does the person even have the kittens or is it a scam? If they are away from the house, in a garage, shed, barn, caged etc. How socialized could they be? The first 8 to 10 weeks of a kittens life determine it's personality for life! There are MANY Bengal Scammers online so be sure to do your homework. https://bengaltimecattery.com/ A Real / Verified / Reputable Bengal Breeder in Good Standing There are unfortunately way too many Fake/Scam breeder advertisements and sites on the web. When you are deciding who to trust, we suggest that you do your homework and check the following sites for verification. We will not include any links, specifically, so you can google and verify them yourselves. For the first two, you should ask your breeder what their registered breeder name is and verify that the breeder is registered with the proper certification authority for their breed. We are Bengaltime Cattery in TICA and CFA. 1. The International Cat Association 2. Cat Fanciers Association 3. Google Verified Bengal Breeders and see if they are listed. 4. Check with the Bengal Cat Club and Cat kingpin to see if they have been verified. 5. Check with The International Bengal Cat Society to see if they are members. 6. See if they have a verifiable and consistent web presence on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc... We are Registered Bengals / Bengaltime Cattery everywhere on the web. 7. NEVER do business with a breeder that will only communicate by text or e-mail - This is almost always a sure sign of a scam. 8. Ask to see Fresh video of the available kittens and or call and ask to facetime and see them. Almost all legitimate breeders will consent to this. 9. Look for Google, Facebook, Yelp and other verifiable review. We have links to our reviews on bottom of our web page. 10. If possible visit the breeders home and look at the conditions of the breeders, kittens, litter boxes, etc. We welcome visits from serious clients. 11. Never do business with a breeder that does not have and provide a written contract. We have ours posted on the forms section of our web page. 12. Look at pictures of their past kittens and if possible how they look now. We have these posted in our Gallery / Past kittens and Gallery / New home pages. 13. Ask to see the pedigrees of the breeding Bengals that the breeder has, We have these posted on our website on our Studs / Queens page for every one of our Breeding Bengals. 14. Look at their reviews online, we have links to our Google, Yelp and Facebook reviews on the bottom of our web page and invite our clients to leave feedback. Do your homework! Adopting a Bengal kitten is a major investment in time, money and energy. Be sure you find the right breeder that is Real now and will be there for you if you have questions in the future. Raised with Love in our home, for your home! Lyubov & Andy Registered Bengals / Bengaltime Cattery Kalama, Washington In these stressful times, many are looking for some extra support or comfort and we have been asked recently if a Bengal kitten would make a good Emotional Support Animal (ESA). The answer is 100% yes! Bengals can become emotional support cats. The only requirement for an emotional support cat is that you share a connection with them and that their companionship has a calming and supportive effect on you. Owning a Bengal is a partnership. The more love, time and effort you put into your relationship with your Bengal, the more you will create an unbreakable bond. Bengals are much more active than most of their feline counterparts. They still love their sleep, but they are incredibly curious about the goings-on of the household. They are extremely playful and energetic; Bengals behave more like a dog than like a cat! They will follow you everywhere and are interested in what's going on. They are a constant source of love and entertainment! Bengals are highly intelligent and usually learn things very quickly. Some like to walk on a leash and play fetch with you. This does depend a lot on their individual personality, how much socialization, love, and handling they received during the first couple of weeks of life, and how much interaction you have with your Bengal kitten. Also, most Bengals love water so don't be surprised when they get in the bathtub or shower with you. Bengals have a beautiful, short, pelted coat that requires minimal grooming. Weekly brushing with a soft brush will stimulate circulation and keep the coat shiny and healthy is all that they need. Bengals shed very little and with minimal grooming, you will not notice cat hair everywhere. Bengals are Hypoallergenic: Bengals have very short tight coats / Pelts which don't shed as much as most other breeds, and many people with allergies find that they're not triggered as badly or even at all. Some people have had minor reactions, while others have no reactions at all. Of course, there's no way we can guarantee what your individual reaction maybe, but many allergy sufferers have found Bengals to be great pets for their family and they are listed as one of only a few Hypo-allergenic cat breeds. Two Federal Laws protect the rights of people with Emotional Support Animals (ESA). Although the rights are not as expansive as those granted to Service Animals, there are still two very important points to be aware of. The Fair Housing Act ensures that an individual requiring an Emotional Support animal will be allowed to live with their animal. Furthermore, it prevents landlords and rental companies from being able to charge pet fees or deposits. The Air Carrier Access Act ensures that people are able to fly with their Emotional Support kitten/cat without having to pay additional fees. The airlines do require that they are informed in advance and that a recent (less than one-year-old) medical letter is provided as well. In conclusion if you are looking for a companion, emotional support animal (ESA) or just a nice addition to your family, a Bengal can be a great choice. Bengals make wonderful pets if you like an active, playful companion. Be sure to research your breeder and if possible meet the parents or ask details about the parent's personality. Our Bengal kings and queens are social with everyone and can't wait to entertain guests or cuddle in your lap.
